National Drinking Water Policy- Pakistan

National Drinking Water Policy (NDWP)
is in the process of making for the last 7 years,
it (The Draft) has gone through several public feed backs, expert
discussions ,government review and public discussion, which has
changed the shape of the document and it may be missing the target of
helping any body in the power to take steps one, two three and sort
out the issue of drinking water quality and quantity to the poor
consumer. This was envisaged in the core features of the NDWP<
http://waterpakistan.com/PolicyCoreFeatures.htm>. The host department
for this is the ministry of environment and EPA-Pak for final approval
of the draft. See the various of versions of draft drinking water
policy at <http://waterpakistan.com/Index.htm>.
With the recent trouble in the ministry of environment building the
draft is expected to dip into a further indefinite delay.
Though there is a commitment at the PM and the President level for
solving the national drinking water issue in a holistic manner via a
sound practical policy, the draft is being delayed only for being on
low priority., without reason.
It may be a good idea to form a task force or reinvigorate the
existing one under the national drinking water and sanitation program,
notified by the ministry of environment.
pray some thing is done about this draft and the target of health and
happiness for the common man is not further delayed. Keep your fingers
crossed....
